Every day is worthy of celebrating the women in our lives. The loving, caring, attentive, the joyous, open-hearted, the fierce, the inspiring and the kind, any kind. Having the 8th of March as the International Women’s Day gives us the perfect early spring pick-me-up to celebrate ourselves.
It’s beautiful to greet your sisters, mothers, girlfriends, your idols or any other woman that has impacted your life in any way or form. It’s wonderful we can salute the sublime ladies around us! And by doing so feeling wholesome ourselves as we truly benefit boundlessly when giving and sparking joy in others. It’s beautiful to receive flowers from your beloved ones, to hear heart-warming words of appreciation, being taken care of and feeling soul-stirring love. We are always here to affirm you by saying that you are worthy and deserve to feel this way not only today, but really every day. Even though you may not receive such fervent words and acts of appreciation on a daily basis, what’s truly of high significance, is being able to acknowledge that you can also cultivate this feeling within yourself and by yourself.
Having a sense of self-worth, trusting and being honest with yourself, not settling for compromise, being able to set boundaries, work past hardship and move forward with grace, feather-like lightness and shatterproof hope for the better. It’s important we take care of ourselves before we move onto helping others. Everything starts within ourselves and it’s our responsibility to take care of what’s going on on the inner side of our character. There is a wonderful quote: “No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.” If we take care of our inner beauty, it will with no doubt reflect in our faces.
Having said that, it, of course, sounds lovely, yet everything is easier said than done. Especially in the middle of a global pandemic, right? Taking care of your inner beauty may manifest in your life in a thousand different ways, considering your unique presence. It may be reading a book, not skipping a meal, watching your favourite TV show, finishing work early, working for a little longer, going for a walk, staying in, playing the piano, having a chess match, writing, cooking or simply calling a friend. Human closeness and company have become of such high value nowadays! We all have come this far to realize or yet another time acknowledge that we need each other to survive and live a fulfilled life. Now more than ever before we need to support each other and be there for each other. In sincere human connections and in sisterhood. Tanja Taaljard has once beautifully put that in words: “Women instinctively know how to nourish each other, and just being with each other is restorative.” So call your sister, your friend, mother or any other woman you appreciate and cherish! Meet them for a walk outside or if it’s safe and you’re comfortable, welcome them inside for a cup of warm beverage. A little truly goes a long way these days. Just some heart-warming conversations or cocooning on your sofa for a restful time in solitude. Whatever fills your cup!
We hope you feel appreciated and beautiful today! We hope you speak words of kindness and seek out the good in others! We hope you thrive to be better than you were yesterday! We hope you salute other women, empower and cherish them and yourself the way we are, today and everyday.
Love,
